A public IP address identifies your connection on the internet, similar to a mailing address. Most networks today are "dual-stack" β your device has both an IPv4 and an IPv6 address, but your browser's Happy Eyeballs algorithm picks whichever one connects fastest (usually IPv6) and never reveals the other on that same connection. To detect both, this tool makes two independent requests: one forced over IPv4-only, one forced over IPv6-only. If your ISP or network doesn't support one of the two protocols, that card will say so instead of showing an address.
Reverse DNS (a PTR record) maps an IP address back to a hostname β the opposite of a normal DNS lookup. Many residential ISPs assign a generic PTR (like 123-45-67-89.static.example.net); some IPs have no PTR record at all, in which case this field shows "Not available."
